Landgasthof Steinbock in Fischen im Allgau

We were guests in this inn in mid-October. Even the reception around 6.30 p.m. was cool and not happy to have guests. The waitress with an Eastern European accent let us take a seat in the front room (possibly the main room, as the counter was there), but it smelled very strongly ... Wood stain, varnish or floor wax. Very, very uncomfortable. The food was simple and carelessly prepared. What do you want dill on a schnitzel? And just not justified for this price. We didn't feel comfortable at all ... neither in the loveless and tasteless furnished guest room ... nor with this service. We can't recommend it at all.

We stayed in the property for one night. It was fine for that. - Rooms were clean - The view in the back was nice - Room in the back relatively quiet, only the diesel locomotive can be heard because the train station is right next to it - Due to the Corona, breakfast was not served as a buffet but was at the table. Breakfast was plentiful and ok You get what you pay for. We were looking for cheap accommodation to stay overnight. The property met that without any compromises. For a longer stay, I would look for something else. Who for about 50 € p.p. Luxury and a top location expected must keep looking or be disappointed afterwards. We ate elsewhere based on the reviews. You walk across the meadow and a small bridge only 10 minutes to Rubi where there are several restaurants.

We absolutely agree with the negative reviews. There is absolutely absolutely nothing to add. Unfortunately, this inn does the Allgäu no credit! We won't be back.

The waiter takes getting used to, was not a problem for me now. When it comes to corona prevention, I agree with the other reviews. The food was ok. The hammer was when it came to paying. The "waiter" pressed the tube with the words he had to go to the train. We wanted to pay with EC because the hardware was available. This would only be available to pay for the room, so I hurried to the machine in Fischen and got some cash there. When I came back there was also the accounting and then the waiter was supposedly on the way to his train. The announced service did not exist. After half an hour I asked about it in the kitchen, there we learned that the waiter should actually be there and the EC device is quite suitable for paying in the restaurant. A thank you to the nice cook here, she then took care of the guests. The restaurant is not recommended. Mediocre food at overpriced prices.

Very very bad !! Corona does not exist in this shop! The operator has the mask around his neck the whole time. There is no hygiene concept. The waiter doesn't seem to know any change. He doesn't even have change in his wallet. He depends on tips from customers. He can't do math either, so he should have been more careful at school. Satisfied is different!

Schnitzel and fries ... You shouldn't be able to go wrong with that ... Everything is greasy and unseasoned .. Inedible .. Much too expensive .. The waiter is arrogant .. We should go into the kitchen and complain .. He had no change either and wanted to round up to the next euro ... He also ran through the bar without a "mask" and served without it. There was also no slip of paper for the contact details ... Definitely avoid this place ...

Usually not a star. The food too expensive. Ribs were lukewarm to cold. Forget the side salad and still fully charged. He's only interested in passing vacationers.

The apple strudel was unspectacular. The cream from the spray can and the ice cream ball could have been bigger. Everything here is corona-free. No list to enter. The waiter only wears the mask around his neck. This is how vacation is fun.

In my more than 30 years of field service, I have never experienced anything like it. The waiter at breakfast and check-in should seek help. Extremely unfriendly, provocative and insulting. He doesn't understand a thing about his job. The way he treats the staff, he also treats the guests. Hygiene concept is zero. I would advise the boss to give these people the free labor market again. But I can well imagine that the boss is also suffering from his tyranny and cannot get rid of him. Good tip get help. With these people absolutely not recommended.

Absolutely not recommended - No corona concept, no hand disinfection when entering, no recording of contact details, waiter serves food and drinks without a mask. - Waiter very rude - Little choice on the menu but absolutely too expensive. We were very disappointed with this place.

The food was very good and also plentiful. Plus a few nice words with the landlord, so everything was fine.

The food was a catastrophe. The ordered schnitzel was dripping with fat, the salad had withered leaves and you had the feeling that I was biting on sand. The meat ordered was completely raw. When a complaint was made, it was also raw again. When we wanted the bill, the waiter was unfortunately not able to calculate the prices together and give out the right money, instead he automatically assumed that the price would be rounded up. Really a shame, but the restaurant is not recommended.

Good and tasty food, good portions. Cozy and homely environment. Richtig gemütlich. Friendly and cheerful service who can even speak a small word of Dutch.

Clean room good breakfast good views

We stayed at the Steinbock for one night to walk the E5 from there. Since the accommodations in Oberstdorf were very expensive at the end of August, we decided to book this hotel, which turned out to be a mistake in the end. After an extremely unfriendly reception, we received our room key and directions to the room itself. Equipment is okay, but not everywhere clean. The drain of the shower was also completely blocked so that the shower time was limited to 3 minutes. The biggest negative experience came the next morning. At the breakfast table we were asked about drinks, which is why we had ordered tea and coffee. At the checkout, we were suddenly added a flat breakfast drink fee of 5 € (4.20 € for the coffee). Apart from the fact that the coffee was not even tasty, I find such a price without prior information that these drinks are not part of the breakfast inclusive package is quite a cheek. Maybe we were unlucky with the service and the rooms, but after this experience I can only advise against this hotel.

If you come here you should definitely try the gourmet pans ... Rösti turkey tomato with mountain cheese and Rösti baked with sheep cheese ... Something delicious ... Highly recommended ...

The food was okay, the service was good. But you can tell that many tourists arrive here. The next time we will look for a place next to the track again. A pity.....

Unfortunately not had a good experience with this restaurant. Food is ok, but that's about it. Prices are not reasonable, without a salad and far too high for the quality delivered. The cleanliness had to be compromised, and the service didn't seem to be particularly motivated. Oh yes, we did not collect visitor data either (Corona?).

I spent a night here before starting off a 6-day hike and couldn’t have asked for anything more. The check in was easy; the staff was friendly and welcoming; the room was spacious, clean, and had plenty of natural light; and the food was of generous proportions! As a bonus, the place is located a stone’s throw away from the train station, making it super easy to find if you are arriving by train or quick to depart without having to worry about the commute time. I would definitely come back here if I happen to be in the area again!
